Endometrial Carcinoma

Let's speak about Sudan:
-it's not the commonest gynaecological cancer here, Cervical Carcinoma is on the top.
-the majority in Sudan are diagnosed in stage III & IV, (till now i've not seen any in stage I)...that's of course because of the lack of health education, poverty, living so far from areas where investigations and consultations are available, and sometimes; misdiagnosis.
-for staging we need in addition to the histopathology report, an U/S abdomen-pelvis and CXR.
-about management: surgery should be done for all cases unless there is a stronge contraindication. there are some surgical options for stage I and II, but for stage III and IV there's only depulking surgery; i.e: removal of as much as possible of the tumour.
Radiotherapy can be offered as a sole curative options for the early-stage disease, but is inferior than if given after surgery.
For late-stage disease, after surgery, we can give chemotherapy.Usually the patients are referred to the Radioation and Isotopes Centre-Khartoum, with no surgery done, so, we give them on chemotherapy.
